Gamma Knife – a safe and cost effective way
A gamma knife is, simply put, a piece of high technology equipment put to use for the benefit of people, allowing for head surgery without scalpels and bleeding wounds. Instead, gamma radiation is used for the treatment of a wide variety of conditions, ranging from cerebral cancer to neurological problems.
Head-surgery can hence be performed at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional methods. The trauma for the patient is equally reduced and normally the patients can return to their homes the same day.
The Gamma Knife Centre in Ecuador was the first gamma centre promoted by the KE Group; a project which won the 2015 corporate excellence award from the Nordic-Ecuatorian Chamber of Commerce.
